Google recently updated its guidelines and policies for Google Business Profile (GBP). The new guidelines are designed to help businesses create more accurate and relevant profiles that help customers find them more easily.

Here are some of the key changes to the guidelines:

  • New requirements for business descriptions: Business descriptions must now be at least 100 characters long and must not contain any spam or misleading information.
  • Prohibition on phone stuffing: Businesses are no longer allowed to include their phone number in their post content. Instead, they can use a "Call now" button that links to their verified phone number.
  • New rules for photos and videos: Photos and videos must now meet certain criteria, such as being high-quality and relevant to the business. Businesses are also prohibited from posting photos or videos that contain private or confidential information.
  • Increased enforcement of the policies: Google is taking a more proactive approach to enforcing its policies, which means that businesses are more likely to be penalized for violating the rules.

If you have a Google Business Profile, it's important to review the new guidelines and make sure that your profile complies with all of the requirements. You can find the full text of the guidelines here.

Here are some additional tips for creating a great Google Business Profile:

  • Make sure your information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Use clear and concise language.
  • Highlight what makes your business unique.
  • Add photos and videos that showcase your business.
